«Expedition Trophy» is a legendary adventure on off-road vehicles, which intersects entirely the whole Russia already for the fifth time. This race has unique features to attract various records, traditions and legends. Each new “Expedition Trophy” makes a contribution to this chronicle.
For five years this race was and still remains the world's longest adventurous winter motor rally (up to 17 000 km) with the biggest number of girls among the participants (there is at least a one girl in each team). It’s also remarkable for its most large-scale and memorable events (like the concert on the iced surface of the Baikal Lake) and unique drive (crossing-over the Baikal Lake, passing the Baykal-Amur Railroad or transiting through the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range).
Format of “the Expedition Trophy”:
- teams are required to accomplish a number of tasks within several extensive periods (GPS-orientation comprising logical decisions and original situations),
- off-road heavy-going special stages.
Traditional period of carrying out “the Expedition Trophy 2012” is from February 23 till March 8th. It starts in Vladivostok (lighthouse in Zolotoy Rog Bay), and finishes in Murmansk (Belokamenniy lighthouse).
The route of “the Expedition Trophy” will go through Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, the Baikal Lake, Ruyan-gorod, Perm, Arkhangelsk and Murmansk.
As the previous race, this one will have a Prologue – the initial stage. During this stage any other teams will be able to join the main teams of “the Expedition Trophy” free of charge. In 2012 Prologue will pass from Vladivostok to Blagoveshensk and will comprise three off-road special stages.
“Expedition Trophy 2012” teams may consist of one or two vehicles. You can read about it in details in the section PARTICIPATION.
This time the prize will be more valuable and expensive than ever. The winner will get a unique off-road vehicle and the opportunity to participate on it in the global international “Expedition-Trophy” race in 2013.
